Riverside police and firefighters responded about 4:40 p.m. Monday February 27, 2017 to a plane crash into two homes near Streeter Avenue and Central Avenue in Riverside.

One resident was rescued by firefighters and transported to Arrowhead Memorial Hospital in San Bernardino.

In a live press conference Riverside Fire Chief reported a total of four people were killed, but also reported four were killed on the aircraft and one resident was killed in one of the houses.

As four people from the aircraft were reported dead, two people were transported to the two hospitals. Monday night officials believed that four people aboard the aircraft were killed and one survived.

A teenage victim was ejected from the plane crash, and is reported initially to have minor injuries. She is the only survivor among those aboard the aircraft. She was transported to Riverside Community Hospital. There were two adults and three teens aboard the aircraft — all members of the same family.

Firefighters were still actively searching for victims from the houses. Only one resident of one of the houses was found by early Monday night. One person was discovered in the home, but the condition of that person was not confirmed.

Two homes were completely destroyed with some neighboring homes receiving moderate damage.

The Cessna 310 aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from Riverside Municipal Airport, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor. The Cessna 310 was headed for San Jose when it crashed about a half-mile northeast of the Riverside airport.
