Two Killed, Two Injured in Head-On Crash on Fabyan Pkwy South of Roosevelt Rd (Route 38), West Chicago)

West Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded at 4:59 p.m. Friday to a head-on crash with entrapment. The crash involved a white Nissan Sentra and a dark gray or black pickup truck. Two people occupied each vehicle; all four were heavily entrapped in their vehicles.

West Chicago Fire Protection District Engine 7’s crew on arrival reported two vehicles with heavy damage. By 5:06 p.m. Engine 7’s crew requested a MABAS EMS Box, which brought mutual aid ambulances from Batavia, Naperville, St Charles, Warrenville, and Wheaton.

The last person was extricated from one of the vehicles by 5:31 p.m.

One person was dead at the scene, and a second person died shortly after the crash. Both of the victims killed in the crash appeared to be male victims in their 20s.

A 10-year-old boy and an adult relative were transported with serious injuries to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Their conditions at the hospital were not available late Friday night.

Initial investigation showed that one vehicle was traveling northeast on Fabyan Parkway and the other traveling southwest on Fabyan Parkway, just south of Roosevelt Road (Route 38). Both vehicles had severe damage with a vehicle motor separated from at least one of the vehicles — possibly the pickup truck.

Carol Stream, Winfield firefighter/paramedics also provided fire station coverage for standby in West Chicago.

Fabyan Parkway was closed for an extended accident investigation for several hours at the DuPage County crash scene. West Chicago police and the DuPage County sheriff’s department were conducting the investigation.

Identities of the victims are expected to be released sometime Saturday.
