Chicago police and Chicago firefighters and paramedics responded about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday February 8, 2017 to a report of a man found unresponsive with a stab wound in the block of 300-400 North Clinton Avenue.

The man was reported dead at the scene with a fatal stab wound. Chicago police investigated the homicide scene near the Metra tracks north of Union Station in the city’s River West neighborhood. Metra trains from Union Station experienced minor delays with some departing from Western Avenue instead of Union Station.

The crime scene is approximately across the Chicago River from the East Bank Club and about 0.8 mile north of Union Station. The crime scene is also located in the Fulton River District, south of the River West neighborhood, and west of the River North neighborhood.

A surveillance video at the nearby Pink and Green Line CTA stop may have captured a fistfight between a man in his 20s and a man in his 30s.

Witnesses said they saw a man who was punched being to walk away. He then turned around and chased the man who punched him, pulling something out from his coat and then stabbing the man. Police have not verified the witness reports.

A section of Clinton was shut down near the scene for the investigation.
