City and County 911 Lines Down in DeKalb and Ogle Counties

#ad▼

UPDATE: 911 service continues to be disrupted in DeKalb County and Ogle County, and could remain disrupted Wednesday and Wednesday Night.

The 911 phone lines continue to be down throughout the County, including the City of DeKalb. Frontier Communications is experiencing a system failure and has advised 911 will likely be down all day and well into the night. The good news is that if you dial 911, your call will be answered at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. The telecommunicator will likely not answer, “911, what is your emergency?” as these calls are being automatically transferred to a non-emergency line.

Within the City of DeKalb, you can dial 815-748-8400 to reach police and fire dispatch. Option #1 on the call tree will ring directly into our dispatch center.

This latest 911 outage occurred about one month after the murdered bodies of 85-year-old Patricia Wilson and her son 64-year-old Robert Wilson were found by a relative at Patricia Wilson’s home on Old State Road in Sycamore on August 15, 2016. A 2010 white Chevrolet vehicle stolen from the crime scene was found by Chicago officers near Lincoln Park Zoo. The vehicle was also captured on a video camera recording heading eastbound on Route 64 from the crime scene. Investigators have not announced any arrests or suspects connected to the double homicide.
