MILWAUKEE TMJ4 VIDEO: A violent crowd of demonstrators turn their attention to a BP gas station that has been the target of demonstrations over the past few weeks.

Violent protesters hit the city of Milwaukee after a police officer shot and killed a 23-year-old male burglary suspect who was armed with a stolen gun about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday August 13, 2016 near 44th Street and Auer. Police say they recovered 500 rounds of ammunition in possession of the dead suspect, who police also say had a lengthy criminal history.

Police officers were on routine patrol when they attempted to stop a vehicle. A foot pursuit followed, and during the foot pursuit, a 24-year-old police officer shot the burglary suspect. The burglary suspect was believed to be connected to a burglary in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The burglary suspect was shot in the arm and the chest.

The police officer was wearing a functioning and operating body camera, according to Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett. By state law, the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation will lead the investigation of the police-involved shooting.
