#ad▼

Backyard stargazers get a monthly guide to the northern hemisphere’s skywatching events with “Tonight’s Sky.” In July, watch for the Delta Aquarid meteor shower. (Musical track The Far River written by Jonn Serrie, from the album And the Stars Go With You courtesy of New World Music Ltd).

Jupiter is in the Western sky after sunset and also setting at about 9:30 p.m.

Mars and Saturn are located in the southern sky at about 9:30 p.m.

The Scorpius constellation and star Antares are easy to find in the Southern sky.

M4 globular cluster is located just to the right of Antares.

The center of the galaxy lies in the direction of Sagittarius, which crosses the southern sky from east to west.

Delta Aquarid meteor shower peaks on the night of July 27-28, 2016. Meteors radiate from the southeast — visible as faint yellowish at a rate of about 10-15 per hour.
