Apparent Full Detonation of Public Fireworks Display 9 Hours Early at Bridgeview Park District, Bridgeview

Bridgeview police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:41 PM Sunday to 8100 Beloit Avenue Bridgeview, IL. Police at the Bridgeview Park District Food Truck and Fireworks festival reported about 12:41 p.m. Sunday that it appeared they had a full detonation of their fireworks.

Bridgeview’s official fireworks was schedule for Sunday night, July 3, 2016. The fireworks finale occurred about 9 hours ahead of schedule.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the fireworks show is cancelled for July 3rd. We are aggressively working to reschedule the fireworks and will keep everyone posted.

All people at the site were accounted for by 12:43 pm.

Police reported a brush fire just west of “Kid’s Space City”.

A fireworks contractor supervisor was meeting with fire department command by about 12:45 pm.

Fireworks were still detonating intermittently at about 12:45 p.m.

The Cook County Bomb Squad was requested to the scene for “a lot of unexploded ordnance” reported by police.

There were unconfirmed reports of multiple injuries, a brush fire and a vehicle fire at the location of the official fireworks site for Bridgeview, Illinois.

There was no known requested for an EMS Box emergency for any type of multi-casualty incident.

A local Emergency Management Agency was called to the scene to assist police with crowd control and traffic control.

Several local police departments assisted Bridgeview Police Department.

Firefighter/paramedics from Central Stickney, Palos Heighst, and Orland stood by in Bridgeview fire stations while Bridgeview firefighter/paramedics managed the fireworks accident scene.
