Gunshots Kill on Northbound on I-57 Near 111th Street — Four Shots Fired from a Gray Vehicle

A 37-year-old man was found dead after he crashed his van in the northbound expressway lanes of Interstate 57 near 108th Street. A witness saw the man driving a silver van on South Hamlet Avenue near 111th Street when shots rang out. The shooting victim was able to drive his van down the 111th Street ramp and continue northbound on Interstate 57 until he crashed at about 108th Street. The man was found with a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting victim was identified as Maurice Johnston.

Police were told that possibly four shots were fired from a gray vehicle. The driver of the gray vehicle may have fled eastbound on 109th Street.

The entrance ramp is near the Morgan Park neighborhood on Chicago’s Far South Side.
