Gas Line Hit During Parkway Tree Replacement on Wing St, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights firefighters responded about 8:20 AM Monday to a report of a gas line leak in the 1400 block of E. Wing St. near Wilshire.

A Public Works crew replacing a tree in the parkway hit a gas line that was near the roots of the old tree stump. There was a strong odor of natural gas in the neighborhood east of the gas line rupture. When was from the west about 10 to 14 mph at the time of the gas line rupture.

Firefighters crimped the severed line and stood by until NICOR arrived.
