One Man Arrested While on Probation from Stateville Correctional Center

Arlington Heights police observed a driver make a traffic violation as he turned into the parking lot near Subway, just north of Mariano’s, 5:18 PM Thursday 812 East Kensington Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police initially noticed the vehicle near Kensington Road and Dryden Place.

Police then observed two men leave the car, which was a rental car, and make a telephone, which turned out to be a call for an Uber ride.

The men left their vehicle at the Subway parking lot and departed in the Uber vehicle. Police also observed the men behaving in a furtive manner before they departed the parking lot just north of Mariano’s Fresh Market.

The driver of the Uber vehicle was then stopped after police observed the Uber driver commit a traffic violation nearby at Northwest Highway.

Arlington Heights police stopped the Uber vehicle, and during the traffic stop, recovered 32.3 grams of cocaine from a man identified as Antione Davis, and 43.8 grams of cocaine from a man identified as Xavier Gamble.

Antione Davis, 31, of Hanover Park, and Xavier Gamble, 29, of Chicago were both charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute cocaine in Arlington Heights. If convicted, Davis and Gamble face up to 30 years in prison.

A Cook County judge on Thursday set bail at $60,000 for a Hanover Park man and $30,000 for a co-defendant accused of intending to distribute cocaine in Arlington Heights.

On Thursday, Davis was held on $60,000 bond and Gamble was held on $30,000 bond in Cook County Circuit Court.

The rental vehicle parked near Subway was towed to a police holding area. Gamble was on court supervision for a DUI at the time of his arrest, according to Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney David Shin.

Davis has a history of convictions for DUI in 2003, 2008, for which he was sentenced to 60 days in jail, and 2010, according to Shin.

On 13 occasions Antione Davis failed to appear in court on the earlier DUI charges. According to Illinois Department of Correction records he was admitted to Stateville Correctional Center on July 18, 2014 and paroled October 9, 2015. His projected discharge date was October 12, 2016.

Davis has a Skull tattoo on his left upper arm, and a rose tattoo and “ALIYA” on his chest. He also has a scar on his right arm.

The men may have called for an Uber car to avoid being caught driving without a valid driver’s license as they noticed police in the area.

Antione Davis and Xavier Gamble are scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 25, 2016.
