Russian Pilot Killed, Co-Pilot Rescued, Rescuer Killed by Syrian Rebels After Turkish F-16s Shoot Down Russian SU-24

Another view at the Syria-Turkey border shows the moment that a Russian warplane crashed in Syria. Turkey has claimed that they shot down a plane violating their airspace.

Russian pilots Cpt Konstantin Murahtin and Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Peshkov parachuted out of their Sukhoi SU-24 jet after it was hit by Turkish F-16 missiles. On the ground, Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Peshkov was shot and killed by Syrian rebels. Cpt Murahtin was captured by Syrian rebel forces on the ground. He was later rescued by the Russian military during a 12-hour joint operation, which included Syrian government forces. Russian soldier Alexandr Pozynich was killed during the 12-hour rescue operation.

RT correspondent Roman Kosarev managed to get in touch with the second pilot, of the Su-24 jet bomber that was shot down by the Turkish Air Force over Syria on Tuesday.
