Chicago police shut down part of the Skyway about 2:20 a.m. Thursday between 91st Street and 106th Street after debris kicked up in high winds and struck two semi-trailer trucks.
Cables from scaffolding were among the debris that blew onto the road. One truck’s windshield was shattered and another truck was discovered with a broken side mirror. No injuries were reported.
At least one branch fell on a vehicle and damaged the vehicle in the northwest suburbs.

Multiple power outages were reported across Chicagoland with downed power lines and some trees or branches down on power lines. Most outages involve 30 or fewer ComEd customers.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected to continue throughout the afternoon and early evening. The strongest are expected south of Interstate 80. A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6:00 p.m. Thursday. Winds are still forecast to gust to 35-40 mph until about noon Friday. The winds (wind chill) will convert the 40s into the low 30s and upper 20s all of Thursday through Saturday morning about 8:00 a.m.
Sunday may bring a high of 60 with steady winds down to about 14 mph.
