About 9:25 a.m. Sunday September 27 2015, police and paramedics responded to reports of an injured person on Pacific Ave near Magnolia Avenue in Gurnee.

Police arrived at the house to find a female victim deceased. The victim is believed to be Brocksom’s wife, however, police have not confirmed whether they were husband and wife. Neighbors did report that the couple was married, but separated and undergoing a divorce.

Police did confirm that Brocksom was in Gurnee at the time of the homicide for visitation of his two children — either bringing them home or picking them up. Police did not release how the slain woman was discovered.

Police were searching northern Illinois and Wisconsin for Brocksom, who was believed to be armed and dangerous.

The search for Brocksom included northern Illinois and Wisconsin. Wisconsin State Police, Kenosha County Sheriff, Kenosha Police, and Illinois State Police were notified of the manhunt. An Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) callout was activated to assist Gurnee police with routine operations.

Residents in the area reported seeing Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) armored police trucks and large command vehicles in the area. NIPAS responded early in case the suspect was in the neighborhood, but NIPAS personnel and armored vehicles were released after two or three hours.

The Lake County Major Crime Task Force arrived on the scene about 12:50 p.m. to gather evidence at the crime scene.
