British Airways Plane Catches Fire on Runway at McCarran Airport, Las Vegas — 2 Injured

Two people were injured after a fire on a British Airways plane at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. CNN’s Jim Sciutto speaks to a witness.

Witness and passenger on an another aircraft, Brian Hampton, took a photo of a burning British Airways just after his own aircraft landed at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.

Two people were injured among the 159 passengers and 13 crew on board.

The take-off of the stricken aircraft (Flight BA2276) had been aborted shortly before the fire broke out. The Federal Aviation Administration reported the left engine of the Boeing 777 burst into flames. Passengers were evacuated down inflatable slides as soon as heavy black smoke engulfed the outside of the aircraft.
