New York Clinton prison fugitive Richard Matt has been shot and killed by law enforcement. Richard Matt was shot in the vicinity of Lake Titus, New York -— an area that has been intensely searched by law enforcement.
Richard Matt is one of two escaped murderers that escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility. Richard Matt, age 48, and David Sweat, age 34, both escaped the 2015 Clinton Correctional Facility on June 6, 2015. They were discovered missing during a bed check at 5:30 a.m. at the maximum security Clinton Correctional Facility.
Richard Matt was serving 25 years to life for killing and dismembering his former boss. He has a history of escaping custody, and has previously been shot multiple times while attempting to escape from a Mexico prison.
Earlier today police released that they believed that the two fugitives were heading for Canada.
