Car Crash into Rear of Semi-Trailer Truck in I-90 Construction Zone Just East of Route 53, Near Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg

VIDEO: Car crash into a truck on eastbound Interstate 90 — east of Route 53 during overnight, early morning hour Tuesday/Wednsday.

Illinois State Police, Elk Grove Township and Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:40 AM Wednesday to a report of crash with injuries at 42.056161, -88.020888 (eastbound I-90 just east of Route 53 Rolling Meadows, IL). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report from construction crews, who were working on Interstate 90 improvements, that a car crashed into the back of a semi-trailer truck.

A HELP truck crew arrived first, reporting that a man was trapped in his car and injured.

Elk Grove Township firefighter/paramedics located about 6 miles east of the crash scene were dispatched. Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics — located about 2.4 miles west of the crash scene were dispatched about 15 minutes later at 1:57 a.m. By the time Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics arrived, Elk Grove Township firefighter/paramedics had transferred the victim to the ambulance, and were preparing for transportation.

The patient was transported to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village by Elk Grove Township firefighter/paramedics.

At the time of this report it was unknown why Elk Grove Township firefighter/paramedics were dispatched first due instead of Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics, who were closer to the scene and oriented toward the direction of travel of the tollway lanes where the crash occurred.
