House Fire on East Glencoe St Near Rohlwing Rd, Palatine — Pets Rescued

Palatine firefighter/paramedics and police responded about 9:46 PM Thursday to a report of a house fire at 754 East Glencoe Street Palatine, IL. Firefighter/paramedics received a report that a resident went inside to retrieve a pet after the fire was reported.

The first Palatine Fire Department crews arrived on the scene at 9:49 a.m., and reported smoke on the first floor and fire in the basement of a single story house. The homeowner was found outside the house when fire department units arrived and was the only occupant at home at the time.

The first fire companies pulled a hose line and aggressively attacked the basement fire. The fire was contained to the basement and was declared under control at 10:00 a.m.

No injuries were reported during the fire. Firefighters were able to locate homeowner’s pets in the house which appear to have suffered no ill effects. The fire is under investigation by the Palatine Fire Department. Damage estimates are not available at the time of this release.

The fire was fought by 21 firefighters, staffing three engines, one ladder truck, and three ambulances which responded to the scene along with three command officers. Ambulances from Rolling Meadows Fire Department and Palatine Rural Fire District assisted with fire ground support. Palatine Police officers assisted at the scene with traffic and crowd control.

The Palatine Fire Department reminds everyone to have working smoke detectors in their homes, whether a single-family dwelling, an apartment or a condo. Have an escape plan, practice it, and be prepared to use it in the event of any fire.
