Arlington Heights Police: Victim Reports PayPal Security Breach Used to Purchase Apple Laptop Computer

Arlington Heights police received a report about 2:13 PM Thursday, March 26, 2015 of a fraudulent online purchase from a victim that resides in the block of 1200 South Haddow Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders were able to access the victim’s PayPal Account and charge the account to purchase an Apple laptop computer, valued at $1297.00.

Arlington Heights police report the victim was alerted to the transaction by PayPal, when a PayPal website employee notified the victim that her user ID was released to an unknown subject who had reported a forgotten e-mail log-in.

Arlington Heights police did not specify the store that accepted the charge for the sale of the Apple computer.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Thursday, March 26, 2015 about 2:12 PM.
