Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber bragging about deceiving the American people, who he thinks are stupid.

In October 2013, Jonathan Gruber was discussing the means and tactics for passing Obamacare and stated that obfuscation, as well as the “stupidity of the American voter” were critical for passage of the Obamacare legislation. He said “lack of transparency is a huge political advantage.”

My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.

— the WHITE HOUSE President Barack Obama

In January 2010, after it was revealed that Gruber was under a $297,000 contract with the Department of Health and Human Services, while at the same time promoting the Obama administration’s healthcare reform policies, there were outcries of conflict of interest.

In 2009–2010 Gruber served as a technical consultant to the Obama Administration and worked with both the administration and Congress to help craft the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) or “Obamacare.”

Gruber has been a professor of economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since 1992. He is also the director of the Health Care Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research, where he is a research associate. He is an associate editor of both the Journal of Public Economics and the Journal of Health Economics. In 2009 he was elected to the Executive Committee of the American Economic Association.

He was also a key architect of Massachusetts’ healthcare reform from 2003 to 2006. In 2006, Gruber received the American Society of Health Economists Inaugural Medal for the best health economist in the nation aged 40 and under. In the 2008 presidential election run, he was consultant for Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and Barack Obama.
