4-Alarm Fire at Empress Casino in Joliet

A fire reported at Empress Casino at about 10:00 a.m. Friday has become a 4-alarm fire still burning heavy at 2:30 p.m. at the casino at 2300 Empress Road in Joliet. The fire apparently started in a kitchen area where welders were working on an area under construction. The fire quickly extended to the roof and caused a failure of the truss roof.

All fire departments in the immediate area have sent tanker trucks to help with water shuttle operations. Several aerial trucks or tower ladder trucks and deck guns are pouring water on the fire. Braceville Fire Department, Braidwood Fire Department, Channahon Fire District, Coal City Fire Protection District, Custer Fire Protection District, Gardner Fire Department, Mazon Fire Protection District, Minooka Fire Protection District, Morris Fire Protection District, Plainfield Fire Department, Rockdale Fire Protection District, Seneca Fire Protection District, South Wilmington Fire Protection District, Troy Fire Department, Verona-Kinsman Fire Protection District, Will County EMA, Wilmington Fire Department assisted Joliet Fire Department.
