Girl Hospitalized After Near Drowning Call For Help at Tanglewood Apartments on South Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights

UPDATE 2: A 12-year-old girl who was rescued from a swimming pool at Tanglewood Apartments on South Goebbert Road was pronounced dead Tuesday morning at Lurie Children’s Hospital (Drowning Victim Call: 12-Year-Old Girl Dies Day After Rescue From Swimming Pool At Tanglewood Apartments).

UPDATE 1: Bystanders rescued a 12-year-old girl from an apartment swimming pool and started CPR. The girl was transported to Northwest Community Hospital and transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where her condition was listed as stable Monday night.

Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics and Mount Prospect firefighter/paramedics were on the scene. A crew from Arlington Heights Engine 3 arrived first, but the first ambulance on the scene was from Mount Prospect Fire Department because the Arlington Heights ambulance from the far south fire station (Station 3) was on another call. The Arlington Heights ambulance from the downtown fire station (Station 1) became available at Northwest Community Hospital at the time of the near-drowning call, and responded from the hospital.

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:58 AM Monday to a report of a near-drowning or drowning at Tanglewood Apartments, 2134 South Goebbert Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report initially that a baby was drowning at the swimming pool.

Rescuers then received a report that a female, age 12, was removed from the pool unconscious and not breathing. The victim was transported Advanced Life Support to Northwest Community Hospital.
