Bicyclist Hit by Metra Train – Pedestrian Incident at Cumberland Along Northwest Highway, Des Plaines

Des Planes firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:01 p.m. Thursday to a report of a pedestrian hit by a train at the Cumberland Station, 475 East Northwest Highway.

Outbound Metra Train #639 is stopped after being involved in the train-pedestrian incident (later reported to be a bicyclist).

Witnesses reported a female bicyclist rode her bike across the tracks when the collision with the train occurred. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as Amy Carolyn Thier.
