Chicagoland weather radar [LIVE PRECIPITATION INDICATOR RADAR] shows storms developing in almost all of Lake County and northwest Cook County at about 5:45 PM.

Storms should cover all of Arlington Heights by about 6:00 p.m.

* AT 533 PM CDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA. DOPPLER
RADAR ESTIMATED THE ANYWHERE FROM 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN
ACROSS PORTIONS OF LAKE AND MCHENRY COUNTIES…WITH REPORTS OF
HIGH WATER IN THE COMMUNITY OF HIGHWOOD. THUNDERSTORMS WILL
CONTINUE TO AFFECT CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN LAKE AND MCHENRY COUNTIES
THROUGH THE 6 PM HOUR BRINGING ADDITIONAL DOWNPOURS AND MINOR
FLOODING. THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE IN COVERAGE
ACROSS FAR NORTHERN KANE AND COOK COUNTIES BRINGING HEAVY
DOWNPOURS AND POSSIBLY SOME MINOR FLOODING THIS EVENING.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING TO
OCCUR…ESPECIALLY ALONG SMALL STREAMS AND NEAR LOW WATER

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.

TONIGHT Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 7pm. Low around 55. North northeast wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
