“1203” Not the Last Thing You Want to See Before You Crash: Gasoline Tanker Truck!

#ad▼

VIDEO at scene of a rollover crash on Higgins Road between Arlington Heights Road and Route 53.

Long skid marks this morning on westbound Higgins Road (Route 72) before a rollover crash Sunday morning. No word yet from police, but it appears that the driver of a sedan was westbound in the right lane of Higgins Road when the motorist possibly realized their vehicle was headed for a rear-end crash with a gasoline tanker truck with placard #1203 (gasoline).

Apparently the driver veered left to avoid the tanker when braking would not be enough to avoid the collision. Skid marks from the sedan show that the vehicle hit the center median before rolling over. The sedan may have sideswiped the tanker truck, which was stopped about 100 yards ahead of the rolled over sedan.

Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:07 AM Sunday to a report of a rollover crash with injuries at Arlington Heights Road and Higgins Road Elk Grove Village, IL. The crash was actually about one mile west of Arlington Heights Road in the westbound lanes of Higgins Road. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a vehicle crash involved a rollover with one person trapped in the rollover vehicle. The victim in the other vehicle was reported uninjured.

A vehicle lift was required for extrication operations on this call. There is no word if there were any other vehicles involved in the crash.

Higgins Road was shutdown at Arlington Heights Road and at Route 53 in both directions.
