Roseville (MN) police responded Sunday, March 2, 2014 to a report of people fighting inside LA Fitness, 2420 Cleveland Avenue in Roseville, Minnesota

A three-part video uploaded to YouTube showed a disturbance and arrests, but did not show any of the fighting or throwing of weights that were reported to have occurred.

Video “Part 3” shows shows several people handcuffed on the floor face-down.
The fight apparently began with an argument in a basketball game at the gym.

Roseville police reported to multiple local news media that they responded to 147 incidents at the LA Fitness in 2013, and have responded to 24 incidents to date this year. Police say that most of the events have been theft type of events. “It’s gotten to the point that [the gym] is bordering on a public nuisance,” said Roseville Police Lt. Lorne Rosand.

In this latest incident, multiple police officers responded to the “fight in progress” call and learned that people were throwing weights … “people were throwing two-and-a-half, five pound, and ten pound weights within the building,” according Roseville Police Lt. Lorne Rosand.

Police are frustrated that LA Fitness has ignored their requests to put in security cameras or have guards on site. “They don’t want to take any proactive measures to prevent theft in the parking lot or inside,” Rosand said.

Sunday’s incident resulted in the arrest of three adults suspects and three juvenile suspects. The three adults face disorderly conduct charges and participation in a riot charges. Although one person was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center and diagnosed with a concussion, there was not word on any battery charges.
