Chicagoland weather radar is all clear at about 5:34 a.m. Snow is expected to begin at about 5:00 p.m. Tuesday with higher rate of snowfall expected about 8:00 p.m. The high snowfall rate is expected to end by about noon on Wednesday. Winds are expected to gust to about 20-24 MPH between midnight and noon Wednesday.

Accumulation expected in Arlington Heights and northwest suburbs is 3.5 inches.

FROM SOUTH TO NORTH THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY EVENING. SNOW WILL
PERSIST TONIGHT WHILE TAPERING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. THERE
MAY ALSO BE SOME LAKE ENHANCEMENT OF SNOWFALL RATES NEAR LAKE
MICHIGAN. AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW ARE FAVORED TO LAST IN OPEN AREAS
THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS.

WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW…WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON CST WEDNESDAY.

* TIMING…LIGHT SNOW BEGINNING AS EARLY AS MID TO LATE AFTERNOON
AND INCREASING IN INTENSITY AFTER DARK. SNOW WILL PERSIST INTO
WEDNESDAY MORNING. AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW DEVELOPING LATE THIS
EVENING AND LASTING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* MAIN IMPACT…SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES WITH
ISOLATED HIGHER TOTALS NEAR LAKE MICHIGAN….ALONG WITH MODERATE
SNOWFALL RATES TONIGHT WHICH WILL REDUCE VISIBILITY AND MAKE FOR
PERIODS OF HAZARDOUS TRAVEL. IMPACTS TO TRAVEL ARE FAVORED TO LAST
INTO THE WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE.

* OTHER IMPACTS…NORTHERLY WINDS INCREASING BY LATE THIS EVENING
AND GUSTING TO 20 TO 25 MPH LEADING TO AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW
CREATING EVEN FURTHER REDUCED VISIBILITY.

BLOWING SNOW. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING… ESPECIALLY IN OPEN
AREAS.

A 30 percent chance of snow after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 22. Wind chill values as low as 1. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight
A chance of snow before 7pm, then snow likely between 7pm and 8pm, then snow with areas of blowing snow after 8pm. Low around 20. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Wednesday
Snow with areas of blowing snow before noon, then a chance of snow showers between noon and 3pm, then a slight chance of snow showers after 3pm. Temperature falling to around 16 by 5pm. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around -4. Wind chill values as low as -20. West northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
