The Austin Fire Department (Texas) was busy with rescues this week in a major storm that dropped up to 15 inches of rain over parts of central Texas. Emergency crews had responded to 81 flood-related incidents in Travis County, which surrounds Austin. Emergency operations included 32 water rescues and 46 flood assistance and barricade calls, according to Austin fire officials.

The storm extended from Texas through the Midwest and Illinois to Canada Thursday.
