Arlington Heights police received a report about 8:30 AM Saturday of a commercial burglary at 2326 East Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders burglarized a veterinary medical office. An employee entered the office and found dirt on the floor in a back room.
The employee then found items in disarray in the refrigerator. The controlled substance Ketamine was missing from a refrigerator, and $100 was reported taken from the cash register.
The rear door may have been defeated, but both the front and rear doors were lock and no signs of forced entry.
Ketamine is a controlled substance, and a sterile injection solution that is used for anesthesia. As an illegal recreational drug, Ketamine use is known to cause giddiness, euphoria, anxiety, distorted body perception, distortions or disconnection with time and place, hallucinations, paranoid delusions, combativeness, and loss of coordination. Overdoses can cause tachycardia (rapid heart rate), hypertension (very high blood pressure), seizures, and coma.
Ketamine is known as a date rape drug, and is known to have been slipped into alcohol beverages that are left unattended at bars.
The crime is reported to have occurred between Friday, October 18, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 8:30 a.m.
