FIRE PREVENTION WEEK THEME: PREVENT KITCHEN FIRES
Get an exciting, close-up view of firefighting equipment and fire apparatus at the Arlington Heights Fire Department’s Open House on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fire Station #1, 300 E. Sigwalt Street. Free parking is located in the Municipal Garage just west of Fire Station 1.

Also Prospect Heights Fire Protection District is holding their open house on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 10 East Camp McDonald Road at the Prospect Heights Fire Department Headquarters Fire Station.

In 2013, Arlington Heights Fire Department Open House is at the downtown fire station on Sigwalt Street east of Arlington Heights Road. See photos from 2011 when the Open House was at headquarters on North Arlington Heights Road near Oakton Street.

Arlington Heights Highlights
The Open House is held in recognition of Fire Prevention Week, October 6-12. The Fire Prevention theme for this year is “Prevent Kitchen Fires.” Besides learning more about Fire Prevention tips at the Open House, you will also learn about firefighting equipment and how it’s used. You will have a chance to get into a firetruck and watch exciting demonstrations of what our firefighters are trained to do.

There will also be the Safety House, fire and rescue equipment on display, face painting and games, and Sparky the Fire Dog will be there!

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn more about fire safety and about the Fire Department that is proud to serve the residents of Arlington Heights.

“Don’t worry, we won’t take you up. Oh you want to see the view?”

Prospect Heights Highlights
Take a tour of fire engines, fire trucks and ambulances hosted by firefighters, and also learn about preventing kitchen fires. Participants can put out a “fire” in the squirt house.

Also at Prospect Heights, you can get your picture taken in fire gear, win prices.

Lunch is served at noon.
