Fire Department Responds to Sensor/Detector Activation at Public Works Facility on North Ridge Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:15 AM Monday to a minor incident involving a sensor at the Public Works facility 220 North Ridge Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a sensor/detector was activated in the water department. Firefighters were concerned with a possible chlorine gas leak. In general, no odor of chlorine was detected around the facility, but a slight odor was detected in a small area. No word on the exact problem with the facility, but extra firefighters on the scene were returned within about 25 minutes of the response to the public works facility.

Public works officials were also on the scene.

Wind direction in the time period of the call was West at 5 mph changing over to SW at 7 mph.
