Video of part of car chase in Washington D.C. when a black Infiniti was stopped and surrounded, but then got a away.

A woman driving a black Infiniti with a one-year-old child inside tried to ram through a White House barricade Thursday, was chased through streets of Washington D.C. until she was stopped near the U.S. Capitol. House and Senate lawmakers, were inside the U.S. Capitol debating how to end a government shutdown when a lockdown was ordered.

Outside, tourists, congressional staff and senators were in the vicinity as police chased the black Infiniti with Connecticut license plates down Constitution Avenue toward the Capitol.

The Infiniti was surrounded by police cars when the female driver put the car in reverse to escape, — slightly hitting a police car, driving around a traffic circle and heading toward the north side of the Capitol. Video shot by an Alhurra TV camera operator from showed police pointing firearms at her car. Police were in each other’s crossfire, and did not fire their weapons, before she rammed a police vehicle and continued driving. At least seven gunshots were heard immediately after that escape, and as she drove away from them. Police shot and killed her one block northeast of the historic building near the Hart senate Office Building. A police officer took the child from the car to a hospital, where the female toddler is listed in good condition, and is in protective custody.

One Secret Service member and a 23-year veteran of the Capitol Police were injured in actions that occurred during the pursuit. They were not hit by gunfire. Officials said they are in good condition and expected to recover. No other people were shot. At least one U.S. Capitol police car was severely damage in the incident.

Police and secret service agents protecting the area took precautions in case the incident was part of a terrorist attack, but early in the investigation police do not believe the incident was part of a terrorist attack.
