A GoPro camera mounted on the spire captured the moment it was permanently installed atop One World Trade Center on Friday, bringing the New York City structure to its symbolic height of 1,776 feet (Set to 480p recommended).

The silver spire topping One World Trade Center on Friday brought the structure to its final height of 1,776 feet. Loud applause and cries of joy erupted from construction workers as the spire was gently lowered and secured into place.

On Friday May 10, 2013, the spire was installed atop the One World Trade Center skyscraper, making it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere and the third-tallest building in the world by pinnacle height. The spire reaches a symbolic 1,776 feet in commemoration of the year of American independence.

One World Trade Center has been the tallest building in New York City since April 30, 2012.

The new World Trade Center complex will also feature three other high-rise office buildings, located along Greenwich Street, and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, located just south of One World Trade Center.
