FLOODING REPORTS: Widespread Flooding in Northwest Suburbs and Chicagoland

Numerous reports of roadways and basements flooded in Chicagoland after at least 2 inches of rain fell since about 1:00 a.m. Up to an additional two inches of rain is forecast for today, and the area is still under a Flash Flood Warning and a Flood Warning. THIS PAGE IS DEVELOPING …

The Des Plaines River is expected to reach record levels in Des Plaines and Riverside today. Water is expected to be over the banks.

Radar indicates wide areas of thunderstorms moving from southwest to northeast.

Following is a SAMPLE of reports of flooded areas in Chicagoland (additional flooded areas have not been reported). For many communities ALL police officers are being called in to duty.

Edens expressway multiple people stuck inside their cars in flooded roadway at Winnetka underpass.

Expressway impassable — I-94 both directions shut down between Lake Ave and Tower Rd due to high water.

Standing water at I-90/94.

Dan Ryan Expressway south by 159th Street.

Numerous viaducts flooded in the City of Chicago, including 95th and Dauphin, and 95th

Expressway and ramps underwater at I-290 westbound to the Roosevelt Extension and I-294 southbound ramp — completely under water and impassible.

Roadways flooded at Arlington Heights Road and ramps at I-90 flooded.

Roadway closed on Salem north of Schaumburg Road.

Building has areas underwater at International Village, 1129 East Algonquin Road — accompanied with an activated fire alarm.

Completely flooded at Arbor Drive, Rolling Meadows/Schaumburg.

Roadway underwater near Rand Road and Wilke Road.

Roadway flooded at Elmhurst Road from Dempster down to Algonquin Road.

Roadway flooded at Algonquin Road Eastbound at Route 83 — very deep.

Flooding in 1500 block of Mitchell Mount Prospect with water main break.

Roadway flooded Braintree south of Weathersfield, Schaumburg

Woodfield Road flooded between Plum Grove Road and National Parkway. Schaumburg firefighters rescued a woman from her car at this location. At least three vehicles stranded.

Roadway flooded/vehicle stranded at Schaumburg and Pleasant, Schaumburg

Roadway flooded at Devon eastbound at Somerset.

Roadway flooded at Elmhurst and Willow, Prospect Heights.

Roadways flooded at Euclid Avenue and River Road.

Lake Cook Road and Route 83 “starting to look bad”

Flooded roadway on Wheeling Road between Euclid Avenue and Boxwood.

Roadway flooded on Baldwin between Ela Road and Roselle Rd including residents along Clover. Several streets impassable in the subdivision.

Streets flooded Grove and Fernandez, Arlington Heights.

Roadway flooded and barricaded at Landmeier and Higgins.

Roadway flooded at Elk Grove Boulevard near Elk Grove High School.

Basement flooded in the 2500 block of East Grove Street Arlington Heights.

Roadway and property flooded at 132 and Grand Avenue.

Evacuation of a mobile home neighborhood along the Illinois Michigan Canal in Utica, Illinois.

Traffic signals out at Buffalo Grove and Lake Cook and at Dundee Road.

Roadway flooded at Eleanor and Drake, Mount Prospect.
