  1. Definitely. He’s kind of a low-key guy, but he definitely has some great ideas and a ton of experience with Springfield. We need that.

  2. Hellners Endorsement by Schakowsky was a bad move! She just voted to raise $1 trillion taxes on all families, including our Wheeling families!! Tells me Hellner is a high spending democrat!!! No thanks!!!! I will definitely say NO to Hellner!

  3. I think the point is he’s the only candidate with bipartisan support. You want to take a look at all the wackadoodle bills John McCain voted for and tie Drake to those or how about Metra Mulder’s oversight of the looting of our commuter train system and connect that to Hayes. “A trillion dollars!!!” Try to relax.

  4. Hayes told the 6290 residents in Arlington Hts who signed the Shadow Project petition back in 1997 that it met nothing. Trustee’s make the rules in town, not you.

This kind of thinking scares me. Vote Hellner

  5. Actually, Jane, Hellner was the only candidate to talk about the huge pension liability the Village has, and how we need to spend less than $40 million on a new police station; Hayes and Drake didn’t blink at that price tag. Hellner’s a fiscal conservative.

  6. I’m intrigued by Hellner’s background in revenue wrt racing and gaming. With the track as the largest employer in town, it seems like a special opportunity to see what he can do to help make the track more lucrative for them, surrounding businesses and in tax receipts.

I could vote for Hellner or Hayes. Drake just seems to be the wrong guy at the wrong time. He presided over an Arizona city that doubled in population during economic boom times. We’ve had stable population for 40 years and hard times require a different approach to attracting business.
