Lightning and thunder accompanied a thin line of thunderstorms, which passed over Arlington Heights about 11:45 p.m. Monday. The air temperature was 38°F and heavy rain fell in Arlington Heights at about 11:49 p.m. (See radar image and comment …)

Overnight
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Areas of dense fog. Temperature rising to around 54 by 4am. East southeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming south southwest. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday
A chance of showers and thunderstorms before noon, then thunderstorms between noon and 3pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. High near 63. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then showers likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 35. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Wednesday
A chance of rain and snow before noon, then a chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 35. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Highs in the teens are expected Friday and Saturday, but a rebound in the 30s is expected Sunday and Monday.

One-Inch Hail
Southeast Cook County, Northeast Will County, and Northern Lake County, Indiana were issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning between 11:05 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. Monday night. Up to 1-inch hail fell in Chicago Heights in southern Cook County with a little more than one inch rain falling between 11:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
