Bullet in Bonfire Causes Accidental Misfire; Strikes Johnsburg Woman in Face

McHenry County Sheriff’s office responded about 5:00 p.m. Sunday to the 1800 block of Indian Ridge Drive in Johnsburg to a gunshot wound in the face of a 37-year-old woman. The woman and her husband lit a bonfire in the backyard and, according to police report, unknowingly threw two rounds of ammunition among other items into the fire. At least one bullet misfired and struck the woman in her cheek. The woman was transported to Centegra Hospital in McHenry. The injury was apparently not serious.

No word on any charges or arrests.
