Elgin Police Respond to Shooting of Man at Business on Villa Street

Elgin police responded about 10:16 p.m. Saturday September 22, 2018 to a report of a shooting at a business in the block of 100 Villa Street.

Police on arrival discovered a 36-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound that initially appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury.

Early police investigation discovered there had been a dispute at a party involving a large number of people, according to the Elgin Police Department.

During the dispute, the 36-year-old man was struck by gunfire, according to police. He was transported to an undisclosed hospital.

The shooting is being investigated by detectives from the Elgin Police Department’s Major Investigations Division.
