On Tuesday, September 11, 2012, the Naperville Police Department arrested Robert Theodore, a male/white subject of a sexual abuse investigation, born February 27, 1952, at his residence located at 3809 Hagen Court, Woodridge, Illinois. The arrest stemmed from a seven-month investigation regarding reports that Theodore was having inappropriate contact with minors.

The Warrenville/Woodridge/Naperville area trainer is accused of sexually abusing a male teenager when he was 16-years-old. The contact is alleged to have occurred as Theodore was employed at LIFETIME Fitness in Warrenville. Robert Theodore was employed as a track and triathlon trainer at LIFETIME Fitness, and was involved in Power Pedal and Triathlon Training.

Prosecutors allege Theodore’s Woodridge home, the victim’s home, and LIFETIME Fitness Warrenville were the sites of the alleged abuse.

Theodore, an accomplished endurance athlete, has been a coach for more than three decades, most recently associated with the endurance training program at LIFETIME Fitness.

DuPage County prosecutors charged Robert Theodore with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Theodore posted bond ($25,000) and was released. Theodore was ordered to submit to GPS monitoring and have no contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 18. He faces three counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, Class 2 Felonies punishable by up to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Prosecutors allege Theodore bought expensive gifts for the male victim including an Apple iPod and a high-end bicycle.

A spokesperson for Life Time Fitness responded, saying the company finds the allegations startling. LIFETIME Fitness is conducting their own internal investigation and also cooperating with authorities. LIFETIME has fired Robert Theodore, and remove his bio and other information from the LIFETIME Fitness website.

According to prosecutors, the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information about other possible victims or incidents to contact contact Investigator Richard Wistocki of the Naperville Police Department High Technology Crimes Unit at (630) 305-5384.
