Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Possession of an Illegal Knife on West Algonquin Rd, Rolling Meadows

An Arlington Heights south beat patrol unit officer reported an unlawful use of weapon arrest at 1786 W. Algonquin Road in a parking lot on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

Arrested was Ismael Ortiz, 18-yrs-old male, of the 2200 block of Birch Lane in Rolling Meadows. Ortiz is reported to be an active Latin King gang member. The offender allegedly possessed a 3.5- to 4-inch bladed knife, which found in his front pocket during a pat down. Ortiz was transported in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters.

At least two stabbings have been reported in the area within the last month with Rolling Meadows police the primary police agency on the cases.

The court date for Ismael Ortiz is October 11, 2012.
