Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team and Zion Police Department Apprehend Documented Street Gang Member, Recover Two Firearms

On Thursday August 30, 2018, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) arrest a fugitive and another male offender who faced new charges.

On Thursday August 30, 2018, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) apprehended fugitive Tyshawn J. Pickett, 20, of the block of 1500 Lorelei Dr, Zion.

Pickett, a documented street gang member had two active arrest warrants. The first warrant was for Armed Robbery (Class X Felony), Robbery (Class 2 Felony), and Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felony), with a bond of $300,000.00. The second warrant was for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Class A Misdemeanor) with a bond of $50,000.00. These warrants were obtained by the Zion Police Department on July 13, 2018 and April 25, 2018 after two separate investigations.

An investigation was conducted and information was developed indicating Pickett was currently at his home the morning of August 30. 2018. Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team/USMS-GLRFTF attempted to make contact with Pickett and he refused to open the door. Entry was made to the home by the Warrants Team, and Pickett was taken into custody without further incident. Two semi-automatic firearms were subsequently located in the residence. One of the firearms had recently been reported stolen in Zion.

Tyshawn Pickett was turned over to the Zion Police Department for further investigation. He was then additionally charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm (Class 2 Felony), Possession of Firearm without FOID card (Class 3 Felony), and Possession of Ammunition without FOID card (Class A Misdemeanor). He was transported to the Lake County Jail where his bond was set at $350,000.00. Tyshawn is next due in court on Thursday September 6, 2018 at 9:00 AM.

Also located and arrested in the residence was Jamarri M. Pickett, 21, of the block of 1500 Lorelei Drive, Zion. After further investigation, the Zion Police Department charged Jamarri with Possession of a Firearm without FOID card (Class 3 Felony), and Possession of Ammunition without FOID (Class A Misdemeanor). He was transported to the Lake County Jail where he was held on $30,000.00 bond. Jamarri is next due in court on Thursday September 6, 2018 at 1:30 PM.

Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
