Severe Weather Likely for All of Northern Illinois Late Afternoon/Evening

A very large area of severe thunderstorm cell has pushed past the Mississippi River and will cross Rockford, Illinois by 3:30 p.m. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for Rockford, Illinois at 2:11 p.m. CDT. Radar indicated storms are capable of winds in excess of 70 mph. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for Cherry Valley at 2:26 CDT.

Radar indicates the most severe thunderstorm cells will cover all of northeast Illinois. The thunderstorm cells are moving due east and east-northeast. Maximum hail size indicated by radar.


The Storm Prediction Center has put our area in a 2% risk of tornado.
