Man Held in Custody After Damaging 6 Metra Passenger Train Cars

Arlington Heights police responded about 9:10 p.m. Thursday to a Metra police request for assistance regarding an inbound Chicago Metra passenger train scheduled for a 9:21 p.m. arrival at the Arlington Park Metra station. The train was carrying a suspect in custody for alleged criminal damage to property onboard the train. The suspect allegedly damaged six train cars while the train traveled from Harvard toward Arlington Heights. Metra police asked Arlington Heights police to take custody of the suspect at the Arlington Park train station, and hold the suspect for the Metra police. Metra police were unable to respond immediately to the train station. Arlington Heights police transported the suspect to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters until Metra police could take custody of the suspect.
