At Least 5 Killed of 29 Shot in Chicago Thursday to Early Monday; Drive-by’s and Walk-ups

Chicago police responded about 4:00 a.m. Monday to the shooting a 27-year-old man standing in the 3700 block of West Grenshaw Street in the Homan Square neighborhood was shot in the left arm by a man who approached him on the street, police said. The man was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Chicago police responded after 3:09 a.m. Monday to the 7800 block of South Champlain Avenue to the shooting of a 28-year-old man, who was standing in the 7800 block of South Champlain Avenue. A gunman in a passing vehicle shot at the man. The victim was driven to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center. He was listed in good condition.

Chicago police responded about 11:10 p.m. Sunday to the 8600 block of South Kingston Avenue to the shooting of a 16-year-old, who was shot in the right arm while walking by a gunman in a passing vehicle. The teen was treated for his wound and was listed in good condition.

Chicago police responded about 10:15 p.m. Sunday to the 3100 block of West 54th Place to the shooting of a 30-year-old man on a walk, who was shot in the right foot by a gunman in a light-colored vehicle. The victim was transported to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.

Chicago police responded about 10:05 p.m. Sunday in the 5700 block of South Seeley Avenue to the shooting of 28-year-old woman, who suffered a graze wound to the ankle. The victim reported an unknown man walked toward her and shot in her direction. The was woman was treated at an area hospital and released.

Police received a report after 4:10 a.m. Sunday that a man was grazed in the finger by a bullet while he was stopped northbound at a red light in the 2400 block of South California. An unknown offender began shooting into the car. The 27-year-old victim was taken in a private vehicle to Mount Sinai Hospital and is listed in good condition.

Chicago police responded about 3:15 a.m. Sunday to the 1300 block of South Millard Avenue after three men were shot. A 32-year-old man was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital after being shot in the back. A second 32-year-old man was shot in the right leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in a private vehicle. A 22-year-old male was taken in a private vehicle to University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and thigh, but was immediately transferred by paramedics to Level I Trauma Center Stroger Hospital.

Chicago police responded about 12:40 a.m. Sunday after a 19-year-old woman sitting a porch in the 7000 block of South Hermitage Avenue was shot in the ankle. She was transported to Holy Cross Hospital and listed in good condition.

Chicago police responded about 11:25 p.m. Saturday after two men approached three boys, ages 13, 16 and 16, and started shooting. The offenders and victims were walking in the 7100 block of South Loomis Boulevard in the Englewood neighborhood when the 13-year-old was shot in the left hand and right shoulder. He was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center. One of the other boys was shot in the right and suffered a graze wound to the left thigh. He was transported to Level I Trauma Center John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The third boy was shot in the right thigh and transported to Level I Trauma Center Comer Children’s Hospital. All three boys were listed in stable condition, according to Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

Chicago police responded about 11:00 p.m. Saturday after a 13-year-old male shot while sitting on a front porch in the 8600 block of South Morgan Street. Two males walked toward the teen and shot him in the forearm. The victim was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition.

Chicago police responded about 9:20 p.m. Saturday to the 600 block of North Cicero Avenue after an offender walked up to a 32-year-old man, who was sitting in a vehicle, and shot the victim in the leg. The man was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Chicago police responded about 6:00 a.m. Saturday to the 4500 block of South Wood Street after a man identified as Gerry Woods, 37, was shot and killed. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A gunman is in custody, and the incident is apparently gang related.

Chicago police responded to two shootings in the Logan Square neighborhood about 3:25 a.m. and 2:45 a.m. Saturday. One man said he was shot in the 1600 block of North Drake Avenue after he walked into Norwegian American Hospital, but police did not find a crime scene there.

Chicago police responded about 2:48 a.m. Saturday after a 31-year-old man was shot multiple times in the back. He was transported to Level I Trauma Center John Stroger, Jr. Cook County Hospital. He was listed in serious condition.

Chicago police responded about 1:45 a.m. to the 4200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue after a man identified as Pablo Hernandez was shot. He was pronounced dead after transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Chicago police responded about 1:00 a.m. Saturday after three people were shot on Lake Street, just east of Austin Boulevard. A 19-year-old man identified as Akil Partee was pronounced dead. A 20-year-old man was transported to Level I Trauma Center John H. Stroger Hospital, Jr. Hospital of Cook County and was listed in serious-to-critical condition. A 29-year-old man was transported to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood and was listed in serious-to-critical condition. The 20-year-old man was upgraded to fair condition. The shooting occurred after the three intervened during a domestic dispute. The shooter left, but returned with a gun and shot the three men. No word on whether a suspect is in custody. Chicago Fire Department responded EMS Level 1 alarm.

Chicago police responded about 4:40 a.m. Friday to the 5800 block of South Indiana Avenue after a 26-years-old man was shot. He was transported to Level I Trauma Center Stroger Cook County Hospital and was listed as ‘stabilized’ at the hospital. The man may have been the victim of a robbery by two offenders.

Chicago police responded about 11:45 p.m. Thursday to the 7500 block of South Vernon Avenue. A female, 19, was shot in the leg and transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center, and listed in serious condition. A female, 23, was shot in the torso and transported to Level I Trauma Center Stroger Hospital Cook County, and was listed in serious condition. Both females were outside when an offender walked toward them and shot them.

Chicago police responded about 9:45 p.m. Thursday to the 7500 block of South Paulina Street after two teens age 16 and 17 were shot in an alley. Jamauri Askew, 16, died at the scene. The 17-year-old teen was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was listed in critical condition.

Chicago police responded about 3:45 p.m. Thursday to the 5900 block of South Laflin Street when an offender in a dark-colored car shot a teen identified as Nathaniel Gonzalez, who was pronounced dead about 4:30 p.m.
