LA Fitness, formerly Bally’s, at 1020 North Meacham Road in Schaumburg is scheduled to close on August 1, 2012.
A 24-hour XSport Fitness is scheduled to open on property immediately north of the LA Fitness property in the former Great Indoors building at the southwest corner of Golf Road and Meacham Road. Xsport Fitness will share building space with the PGA Tour Superstore which is already occupying their space in the building, which is the former Great Indoors site. Xsport will occupy 45,000 square feet of the 136,000-square-foot building.
The Xsport/PGA Tour Superstore building has underground parking, but there is no confirmation that the underground parking will remain after Xsport builds an indoor swimming pool that will encroach on at least some of the indoor parking space.
Fitness business competition in the area also includes LIFETIME Fitness (108,621 square feet), about three blocks southwest of the LA Fitness location. LIFETIME Fitness is a two-story 24-hour fitness facility that includes an indoor and outdoor pool.
After the Schaumburg LA Fitness closing, the closest locations for LA Fitness will be in Mount Prospect on Rand Road and in Chicago on Cumberland Avenue.
