A thundershower popped up directly over Arlington Heights and Elk Grove Village Thursday about 2:20 p.m. The temperature hit 103°F the Heat Index is forecast to hit 111°F. Precipitation was not expected until Saturday. Another cell developed in the northeast corner of Lake County and is heading down the Lake Michigan shoreline.

The cell could become a significant thunderstorm as it passes through central and southern neighborhoods of Chicago.
