John LaPointe collapsed during a cross country practice at Antioch Community High School Tuesday afternoon, August 21, 2018 and was unresponsive after he collapsed. An assistant coach administered CPR, and paramedics took over CPR and began Advanced Life Support when they arrived. LaPointe was transported to the St. Catherine’s Medical Center campus in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, where he was pronounced dead.
LaPointe, age 51, gave his time as a volunteer coach for the past several years for cross country and baseball, according to the high school superintendent, James McKay. He had children who attended Antioch High School.
The Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office said no autopsy is scheduled because LaPointe’s death was not a suspicious death, and that the office will be reviewing its files to determine the cause or manner of death.

Antioch Community High School administrators brought in grief counselors from Lakes Community High School in Lake Villa and an outside agency to supplement the counselors at Antioch Community High School.
John LaPointe was an American Family insurance agent with an office in Wauconda on Liberty Street. He served as an American Family insurance agent for over 21 years, and was an American Star Award Recipient 2005-2017, awarded for his excellence in customer service.
John LaPointe grew up with family in Antioch. Funeral arrangements were not yet announced.
