Fire in a Dryer in Laundry Room at Hyatt House Schaumburg on American Lane

Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:54 a.m. Wednesday to an activated fire alarm and report of a fire in a dryer in the laundry room at Hyatt House Chicago/Schaumburg (formerly Hyatt Summerfield Suites), 1251 American Lane. Firefighters arrived within three minutes and reported smoke showing, but that the dryer fire was out. Firefighters were immediately working on extinguishing remaining smoldering materials with a hand pump and ventilation at the scene.

Firefighters were also helping at least one hotel guest with a disablity with evacuation. Some smoke detectors were activated on upper floors.
