Cook County Property Tax Second Installment Earliest in Decades: Due August 1, 2012

#ad▼

Cook County property taxes are expected to arrive about July 1, 2012 — the earliest in decades, but actually on time for the date designated by state legislature.

That’s good news for taxing agencies, but bad news for tax payers who have to pay earlier than usual. The Second Installment due last year for 2010 was due on November 1, 2011.

The due date for the Tax Year 2011 First Installment was Thursday, March 1, 2012. In Cook County, the due date for the First Installment property taxes is always the first business day in March, but a law passed by the Illinois Legislature changed the First Installment due date for the Tax Year 2010 property taxes (payable in 2011) to April 1, 2011.
