Extra-Alarm Fire on Kenmore in Chicago, 15 People Injured, Dog Rescued

Chicago firefighter, paramedics and police responded about 11:00 a.m. Sunday to an apartment fire in the 6100 block of North Kenmore Avenue. the fire response was raised to a 3-11 Alarm and an EMS Plan 1.

At least 15 people are reported injured. Victims were initially reported trapped in the fire. At least one firefighter suffered heat exhaustion — eight firefighters were treated and/or transported to local hospitals. One Chicago police officer was treated and/or transported to a local hospital. A dog was also rescued by Chicago firefighters and was seen being administered oxygen by paramedics.

The fire in the four-story apartment was extinguished by about 11:50 a.m.
