Vehicle Burglary in Progress Foiled by Barking Dog on South Goebbert Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 2:27 a.m. Sunday of a burglary to vehicle in progress in the 2200 block of South Goebbert Road. Police received a report that two subjects were trying to break into a vehicle. A person was walking his dog about 2:20 a.m. The barking dog scared the two offenders away. They were last seen running southbound toward Algonquin Road.

One offender was wearing a blue T-shirt and one was wearing a black sweatshirt. The offenders were attempting to break into a Mazda 6. The witness knows the owner of the car, and the two subjects were unknown to the witness.

Police checked the area and checked the vehicle and found no sign of entry gained into the vehicle, however several scratches in the paint on the driver side door near the window were discovered.
